Thailand – Hundreds of houses, several roads and temples in Trang’s four districts were hit by flash floods late on Friday night following over six hours of heavy downpours. The water levels of floods in the four districts of Mueang, Kantang, Palian and Yan Ta Khao ranged from 20 centimetres to 1.5 metres high. With insufficient time to move their belongings upstairs, the late-night flash flooding damaged many people’s property. Many moved to stay on their second floor, while others first took refuge in temples for the night and sought help from municipalities to set up tents on higher ground near their homes so that they could watch over them. Main roads were impassable in multiple sections due to deep water, prompting vehicles to use bypasses and resulting in traffic congestion on Saturday morning.
Bangladesh – Fifteen villages of four unions in Jhenaigati upazila of Sherpur were flooded as a flood control embankment collapsed due to strong current of onrushing water from upstream of Moharashi river early Saturday.
